Job Title: 1st Level IT Support Engineer
Reports to: IT Operations Director
Department: Information Technology
Location: New York
This position requires a hands-on help desk support professional with prior experience in Active Directory and Exhange administration in a Windows 2003 environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide 1st level multi-site IT support to the Leerink Swann LLC staff in the following areas:
- Troubleshoot and remediate Desktop application errors, device driver errors in Windows XP relating to Office 200X suite, IM, Bluematrix and FactSet
- Execute routine Moves, Adds, Changes, (MACs) relating to Phone, Voicemail, Computer system, BBY and Turret system
- Deploy systems necessary in meeting “on-boarding” process requirements
- Assist the Staff with email, IM, delivery analysis and remediation
- Participate in the “Morning Call” coordination activities. Establish and monitor phone-bridge, hoot and teleconference connections
- Perform routine printer and copier maintenance
- Manage workflow through the issue tracking application
- Desktop/Laptop system image creation with Norton Ghost and Acronis
- Fluent in Dameware and Remote Desktop tools to support remote sites
- Augment the IT Ops staff in the following areas:
- Participate in routine system backup and tape management
- Participate in data and account cleanup activities relating to the “off-boarding” processes
- Clean and organize the server rooms
- Participate in software license compliance and computer system inventory
- Create routine “how-to” documentation
- Routine Server log monitoring
Experience and Qualifications Required:
- Experience and/or Educational Requirements:
- 4 year College Degree or equivalent experience
- At least 2+ years experience in help desk support; MCSE or MCSA preferred
- Specific Skills/Knowledge:
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking: specific to DDNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTTP, IM, Proxy, Blackberry, Avaya VOIP
- Windows Server 200X
- Hands-on installation of Desktop multi-monitor (>2) video cards
- Programming skills in one of the following areas: VB scripting, C++ or Perl
- Knowledge of best practices associated with Antivirus, Adware, Antispyware applications
- Additional Requirements:
- Experience with any of the following: IPC Trading Desk Turrets, Linux or Perl a plus
- The necessary small company willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
- This position requires 40+ hours per week
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- No relocation is available for this position
- Exceptional customer service skills
