Job Title: Application Systems Engineer
Reports to: Vice President, Application Systems
Department: Information Technology
Location: Boston
This position requires an experienced T-SQL/Report developer with database design expertise and the ability to design and implement system for distributing information through reports, data marts or feeds to stakeholders in the investment banking industry.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop technical specifications from business requirements analysis and design sessions
- Efficient application of development methodologies (use cases, Object-Oriented design) to achieve high quality, robust, and scalable software solutions
- Provide accurate development time estimates and schedules
- Design, code and document management reporting systems capturing key summary and performance metrics
- Design, code and document financial data feed handlers translating raw data into integrated, standardized data tables for subsequent reporting and analysis
- Build SQL queries/stored procedures for accessing relevant data from relational databases.
- Create technical design documents
- Contributed to intranet/internet development initiatives
Experience and Qualifications Required:
- 3-4 years experience with Microsoft development tools and environment (Visual Studio, Visual Basic, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Reporting with Access or Reporting Services (forms, reports, macros, queries)
- Financial Services Industry and Equity Trading Experience a big plus
- Experience with financial applications for General Ledger and Commission Mgmt a plus
- Familiarity with client/server computing and Internet/Intranet development (HTML, Java Script, style sheets, frames, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft .NET framework using ASP.Net, C# and Web Services is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize, drive, and complete multiple projects under stringent deadlines, and respond to changing priorities
- Professional writing and oral communications skills
