Jonas V. Alšėnas, D.V.M.

Managing Director, Biotechnology

Prior to joining Leerink Swann in 2008, Dr. Alšėnas was a consultant to the biotechnology industry.  From 2004 to 2005, he was the CEO and a director of Prana Biotechnology, Ltd. in Melbourne, Australia.  In addition to his industry background, Dr. Alšėnas has extensive buy- and sell-side Wall Street experience.  He was a Managing Director (Research Analyst/Portfolio Manager) at ING Investment Management from 2000 to 2003.  From 1996 to 2000, he was a Managing Director and Senior Biotechnology Research Analyst at ING Barings/Furman Selz where his professional recognition included being named an All-Star Analyst by the Wall Street Journal for both stock-picking and earnings accuracy. From 1991 to 1996, Dr. Alšėnas was a Vice President at Scheer & Company where he consulted for institutional investors as well as biopharmaceutical industry clients.

Dr. Alšėnas earned his D.V.M. from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and his B.A. from Northwestern University.
