Situation
A large pharmaceutical company, seeking future growth opportunities, asked us to assess a new therapeutic area and detail the most promising segments to pursue.
Our Role
To accomplish this objective, we:
- Used a comprehensive primary and secondary research program to define and segment the therapeutic area of interest including an understanding of disease pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment paradigms, the current/emerging competitive landscape and anticipated market evolution
- Prioritized segments via analysis of addressable patient populations, unmet needs and clinical/regulatory feasibility
- Investigated high-priority segments in further detail to elucidate critical drug targets to pursue, optimal clinical development parameters and overall commercial potential
